1. Identification and Origin

  • Scientific name : Aerangis punctata J.Stewart
  • Origin : Rainforests of East Africa (Kenya, Tanzania, Uganda).
  • Natural habitat : Epiphyte, growing on branches and tree trunks in shaded and well-ventilated areas, between 1,000 and 2,000 m altitude.

3. Culture Conditions (Batch of 14 in vitro plants)

Temperature

  • Day: 20–26°C.
  • Night: 14–16°C.
  • Avoid temperatures below 12°C or above 30°C.

Humidity

  • Ideal rate: 70–80%.

Light

  • Intensity: Subdued to medium light (east/west window or light shade in greenhouse).
  • Avoid: Direct sunlight during the hottest hours.

Watering

  • In vitro: Keep the medium slightly humid, avoid stagnant water.
  • Post-transplanting: Water regularly, allow to dry slightly between waterings.

Fertilizer

  • In vitro: Diluted nutrient solution (1/4 dose) every 2 weeks.
  • Post-transplanting: Orchid fertilizer (1/2 dose) during active growth.

Ventilation

  • In vitro: Slight air circulation to prevent mold.
  • Acclimation: Gradually increase ventilation after transplanting.

Repotting

  • Substrate: Fine bark + perlite + charcoal for good drainage.
