Origin and Classification

  • Nickname : "Spider" orchid because of the elongated and narrow shape of its petals and sepals, reminiscent of a spider's legs.

Appearance

  • Size : Medium-sized plant, with ovoid or fusiform pseudobulbs.
  • Leaves : Leathery, lanceolate leaves, light to dark green.
  • Flowers :
    • Shape : Very long and narrow petals and sepals (up to 50 cm for some clones), spider-like.
    • Colour : Yellow, pale green, cream, often with brown or purple bars or spots .
    • Flower size : 10 to 15 cm in diameter (excluding elongated petals).
    • Arrangement : Flowers grouped on arching flower stalks, which can bear up to 20 flowers per stalk

Climate and Environment

    • Winter : Can withstand temperatures up to 10-16°C at night, but avoid frost.
  • Humidity : 40-60%, ideal to prevent roots and leaves from drying out.

Watering
