 1. Identification and Origin

  •  Scientific name : Coryanthes leucocorys Rchb.f.
  •  Origin : Humid forests of Central America (Costa Rica, Panama).
  •  Natural habitat : Epiphyte, growing on branches and tree trunks in shaded, very humid and well-ventilated areas, between 500 and 1,500 m altitude.

 3. Culture Conditions (Batch of 14 in vitro plants)

 Temperature

  •  Day: 18–24°C.
  •  Night: 13–15°C.
  •  Avoid temperatures below 12°C or above 28°C.

 Humidity

  •  Ideal rate: 75–85%.

 Light

  •  Intensity: Dim to low light (north-facing window or dense shade in a greenhouse).
  •  Avoid: Direct sunlight.

 Watering

  •  In vitro: Keep the medium constantly moist, avoid stagnant water.
  •  Post-transplanting: Water frequently to maintain moisture, but not excessively.

 Fertilizer

  •  In vitro: Very diluted nutrient solution (1/4 dose) every 2 weeks.
  •  Post-transplanting: Orchid fertilizer (1/2 dose) during active growth.

 Ventilation

  •  In vitro: Good air circulation to prevent mold.
  •  Acclimation: Gradual ventilation after transplanting.

 Repotting

  •  Substrate: A very airy mixture (fine bark, sphagnum moss, perlite, charcoal) to reproduce natural conditions.
