1. Identification and Origin
- Scientific name : Coryanthes leucocorys Rchb.f.
- Origin : Humid forests of Central America (Costa Rica, Panama).
- Natural habitat : Epiphyte, growing on branches and tree trunks in shaded, very humid and well-ventilated areas, between 500 and 1,500 m altitude.
3. Culture Conditions (Batch of 14 in vitro plants)
Temperature
- Day: 18–24°C.
- Night: 13–15°C.
- Avoid temperatures below 12°C or above 28°C.
Humidity
- Ideal rate: 75–85%.
Light
- Intensity: Dim to low light (north-facing window or dense shade in a greenhouse).
- Avoid: Direct sunlight.
Watering
- In vitro: Keep the medium constantly moist, avoid stagnant water.
- Post-transplanting: Water frequently to maintain moisture, but not excessively.
Fertilizer
- In vitro: Very diluted nutrient solution (1/4 dose) every 2 weeks.
- Post-transplanting: Orchid fertilizer (1/2 dose) during active growth.
Ventilation
- In vitro: Good air circulation to prevent mold.
- Acclimation: Gradual ventilation after transplanting.
Repotting
